and so far, the garden, she is looking good.
This year, the layout, the method, it's all changed a bit. Lessons learned, and put into practice for what I've got and what I can do.
Built a couple 8x1 boxes for the side of the house. That area gets more sun than the garden area I used last year. I'm concentrating the tomatoes, peppers, and other sun-loving plants for this sunny patch. So far, the difference in how quickly romaine, collards, and chard are growing there is substantial.
This year I've started many plants from starts instead of from seeds. With the challenges I faced last year, it made sense to try to get some real success this year beyond the handful of tomato plants, cucumbers and green beans I had last year.
So, I cheated, yes, but I'm feeling good about it.
Back garden received from good sun through the spring, so it has done well. Lots of lettuces this year. Romaine, iceberg, red leaf from starts. Also collards and broccoli.
I have parsley still growing, taking over actually, from last year. And there has been some leafy greens that I have been able to grow from seed. Black seeded simpson being the lettuce and spinach too.
